Alice Jean Cotant passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on August 13, 2015 at the Pocatello Veterans Home. Alice was born January 14, 1925 in Pocatello, Idaho to Altie Huggins and Earl Nixon. She was the second of three children. Early on in her childhood, her family moved to the Island Park, Henry's Lake area where she attended school in a one room school with four other kids, two of which were her brother and sister. A few years later, the family moved to West Yellowstone. Her father, then move the family to San Francisco where he took a job. Alice attended school there until her sophomore year. At this point in time, the family moved back to Pocatello and she attended her high school years at Poky High where she graduated in 1943. Alice met John Cotant her junior year of high school, where they first became friends and then began dating. John was a year older and off to war. Once the war was over, they started dating and were married on September 8, 1946 and have been together ever since... 69 years next month! Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had a cabin at Bear Lake where they were able to spend time with each other as well as other members of their family. Alice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in young women's, the relief society in many other callings. Before she became a member, she was already teaching Sunday school and primary on a fairly regular basis. Alice was quite a seamstress and spent a lot of time making clothes for herself and others. She was a quilter and would help others with their quilting and in return, they'd help her. Alice had a huge love of the ranch lifestyle. She loved horses and spending time riding them. She and her good friend, Carol Carter, would load the horses up in the trailer and take off for a ride in the mountains. A devoted wife and mother, Alice is survived by her husband, John; her three children, J.O. (Kathy), Ralph and Margo; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
