Alma Gregory Morrison

December 2, 1918 — April 27, 2011

Alma Gregory Morrison, 92 of Buhl, Idaho passed away at Pocatello Care Center on April 27, 2011. He was born on December 2, 1918 the seventh child of Alma Morrison and Amy Leah Gregory.

He married Ila Anderson on October 26, 1941. They lived in Franklin, Castleford, Kimberly, Jerome and then moved to Buhl. They lived in Buhl for 50 years. While in Buhl they worked for the Brailsford brothers and then he worked and retired from Pet Milk Company in 1984.

Alma enjoyed sports. He boxed, played football, semi-pro baseball, softball and liked to arm wrestle. He coached and refereed wrestling. He started the freestyle wrestling program in Buhl. He also enjoyed riding, breaking and shoeing horses. He built an arena and encouraged and taught young people to ride. He loved to work with all children.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and received many recognitions for his service in the community. In 1984 Alma and Ila received an award for their dedication for providing an arena for area youth to ride, learn to ride and learn good horsemanship. In 1986 Alma was named parade grand marshal for the Buhl Fourth of July Sagebrush Days Parade. In 1997 he was honored for his dedication to young people and the sport of wrestling. And in 2010 he was honored at the Fourth of July rodeo in Buhl for his dedication and support of area youth.

He is survived by his children; Tamra Burton, Karma (Joe) Koch, Nedra (Jim) Korte, Darla Owen; all of Buhl, Kermit (Nelda) Morrison, Pocatello and Mike (Dayla) Morrison of Wells, NV. He is also survived by; one brother, Dilworth Morrison, Franklin, ID; two sisters, Louise Adams, Layton, UT and Laretta (George) Banks, Cedar City, UT; his special friend, Nellie Hill; many nieces and nephews; 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected and 7 great great-grandchildren with 2 more expected.
He was preceded in death by; his wife, his parents, one brother, 5 sisters, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
