Barbara Jean Disher Oliver, 82, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 19, 1934 in Rockford (Blackfoot) ID to Wilbur Lorin and Reva Murdock Disher. She spent much of her preschool life in the Blackfoot area. Her parents moved to Pocatello and she attended Pocatello schools graduating from Pocatello High in 1954. Her father was drafted into the Army during WWII. She and her sister helped their mother to raise her younger siblings. Barbara and her son, Dennis, married Robert Eugene Oliver on December 29, 1955 in Pocatello, ID. Robert, Barbara, Dennis and Debra were sealed as a family in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 19, 1957. Barbara and Rob raised their family in Pocatello residing there until her death. Barbara was a homemaker and devoted mother to her five children and many grandchildren. In her early years, Barbara was employed by AT&T as a telephone operator. She spent many summers working at Fraziers Fruit Farm during the apple harvest. In her later years, she was a teachers aide at Chubbuck School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the gospel and served in many positions in the church including Primary President, Young Womens President, Relief Society President, Ward Missionary, Visiting Teacher, and many others. Barbara was multi-talented. She had many hobbies; she loved sewing, quilting, ceramics, making cabbage patch and porcelain dolls, crocheting, and particularly enjoyed oil painting. She loved camping and spending time with family. Barbara loved life and serving. She was very compassionate and loved to serve her family and others. Barbara is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert; sons, Dennis (Janis), Scott (Kimberley), Brad (Shelley); daughter, Marilee Green (Danny); sisters, Delores Johnson, Connie Harlock; 30 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Wellisch; parents, Wilbur & Reva Disher; brothers, Richard and Robert; and sister, Bonnie Preston. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11 am at the LDS Alameda 6 th Ward Chapel, 930 E. Alameda Rd, with visitation for one hour prior. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
