Barbara Swenson

September 29, 1947 — September 27, 2021

Barbara Louise Swenson, 73, died following a battle with COVID-19 at Portneuf Medical Center, in Pocatello, ID. Barb was born to Carl Bend and Gertrude Rice on September 29, 1947. She was born in Boise, Idaho, and spent most of her life growing up in Glenns Ferry. She had 2 brothers and 1 sister: Steven Bend, Roger Bend, and Carlene Waller (Bend). Barbara traveled around to California with her sister and eventually moved to Oklahoma. She was married, and out of that marriage had her son, the light of her life, Joe D. Swenson. Later, Barb and her first husband made the decision to divorce. Barb then met the love of her life in Glenns Ferry, Timothy Fredrick Swenson. They feel in love quickly, and it lasted a lifetime until Tim passed away in 2011. Brittany Tisana Swenson (Ward) was born to Barb and Tim, on August 28, 1978. Brittany was Barbara’s little sidekick, her little country girl, and her “Mini”.

Barb loved her sisters and best friends, Carlene Waller and Cheryl Haskins, so very much. She was an amazing wife to Tim, and mother to Joe and Britt. She cared for her children fiercely. She loved her grandchildren with all that she was, and in turn, they loved their Gram very much. They were her pride and joy, and she always made sure her family was well taken care of. She had a strong belief in God, and her love for Him was strong. She would call and pray with her grandchildren and wanted them to carry on that strong sense of faith. She loved all things pretty, blingy, and purple. She loved horses, dancing, and making others laugh. Her family will miss her inappropriate and hilarious sense of humor very much.

At her time of passing Barb had 6 grandchildren, Tisana, Tayson, Trace, Austin, and Kylee Ward, and Rachel Swenson, as well as one sweet great-grandbaby, Persephone (Peanut) Gil.

Welcoming her into heaven are her mother and father, sister Carlene Waller, and brother Roger Bend, loving husband Timothy Swenson, and many others.

Barbara was the life of the party with a laugh and smile that lit up a room. She was the last of a dying breed: strong, stubborn, wise, determined, self-less, and set in her ways. These were all things that made Barbara who she was, and she was loved just the way she was. Though we will miss her, she is now with our Heavenly Father, right where she wanted to be.
