Carol Ann Hanson, 69, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday August 24, 2016 in Idaho Falls. Carol was born July 5, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas to Woodrow and LaVerne Hanson. She has lived in Pocatello, Idaho for 25 years. She loved being a dental hygienist at Smile Makers with Dr. Gregg Romreill and staff for 18 years. She also pursued many other passions in the alternative medicine / healing arts such as polarity for natural health and cranial sacral therapy. She treated every patient as her friend and loved helping people be healthy. She served as a director and dance leader with the Dances of Universal Peace. Leading and participating in peace dances was one of her highest passions. She continually increased her knowledge in the healing arts by attending many workshops annually. Carol earned an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene, Sheridan, Wyoming 1979 and a Bachelor of Science degree, Texas Woman's University, Denton, Texas 1988. Carol enjoyed traveling throughout the country and internationally to workshops and lots of family visits. She was enriched with her volunteer work with the Westside Playhouse. She had a deep love of the outdoors and wildlife. Her beautiful life that was loving and continual giving to others will be cherished by her family and friends for ever. Soon after birth Carol went to Japan since Woody was with the army. After that they were transferred to March AFB in California where she was joined by twins, Brenda and Brian in 1952. Around 1957 the family was transferred to Torreon AFB at Madrid, Spain for 3 years. Following Spain, the family was in Cheyenne, Wyoming at Warren AFB. At that point in her life, while attending the University of Wyoming, Carol married Phil Smith and soon after Brentton Anthony Smith was born at Laramie, Wyoming and traveled to many places in the West. Carol had a daughter, Tina at Denver, Colorado, 1971. After that, Phil's job took the family to Pennsylvania; Olympia, Washington; and Carson City, Nevada. Carol married Ken Thorson and traveled to Cheyenne and Sheridan, Wyoming; Craig, Colorado; and Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Carol married Ric Stone in Rio Rancho and moved to Denton, Texas and then Pocatello, Idaho. Carol is survived by her brother Brian Hanson (Kathryn) of Albuquerque; sister Brenda Yestness (Steven) Colorado Springs, Colorado; son Brent Smith (Kim) John Day, Oregon; daughter Tina Smith (Kevin) Carson City, Nevada; two granddaughters Jocelynn and Marissa Smith; three nieces Kim Hanson (Chris Imbert) Englewood, Colorado, Nissa Yestness (Shaun) Brighton, Colorado, and Astrid McGill (Dylan) Colorado Springs; nephew Matthew Hanson (Englewood, Colorado); great niece Vina Yestness and great nephew Lochlan McGill. Carol's husbands were Phil Smith, Ken Thorson and Ric Stone. We will miss her cheerful, friendly personality, and enthusiasm for life. Every day was a good day for Carol. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the United Church of Christ, 309 Garfield, Pocatello, Idaho 83201.
