CHUBBUCK, ID - Cherie Marie Owen, 47, of Chubbuck, Idaho, passed away April 6, 2011 at her home of natural causes. She was born on January 15, 1964, the second of two daughters to Stephen and Jacqueline Raetz. While growing up she enjoyed swimming, track, skiing, camping, and gardening. She also loved fishing and was very good at it. Cherie loved to care for things. She enjoyed many crafts such as cross-stitch and others as well. Cherie graduated from Nevada Union High School in Nevada City, California, in1982. Upon graduation she attended UCSB in Santa Barbara. While going to school she maintained a management job at various retail stores. She continued her education at Sierra College and went on to finish her degree in Accounting at Sacramento State. She married Vern Owen in Lake Tahoe in 1987. Her first son, Andrew was born in 1988, and a second son, Bradley, was born in 1992. While in Nevada City she was active in her church Twin Cities Church as a bookkeeper. Cherie was currently employed as Asst. Manager of PETCO, a job which she found joy in because of her love of animals. She was a member of the Ladies Bowling League at Tough Guy Lanes. She loved spending time in the wilderness, national parks, and mountains surrounding Grass Valley. Cherie was a wonderful, loving, caring mom to Andrew and Bradley; daughter to Mom, Jackie and Dad, Stephen; sister to Stephanie; aunt to Steven, Matt, and Daniel; friend to Ron, Lenny and many others. She was a caring, joyous, and upbeat person, traits that will live with her spirit in all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Cherie, may your new journey take you to all the fabulous places you want to go. We will miss you - You will always be in our thoughts. We will love you always.
