Claude Edward Pettengill II, age 66 of Pocatello, passed away November 13, 2021 with loved ones by his side.
Claude was born May 24, 1955 in Tokyo, Japan to Edward and Masako Pettengill. Claude spent his childhood growing up in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended Catalina Elementary and Middle schools in Phoenix. Attending religious services at the Japanese Free Methodist Church during that time. The family moved to Pocatello where he attended Alameda and Franklin Junior Highs and Pocatello High School. The family was transferred again to San Francisco where Claude attended and graduated from Galileo High School. After high school he followed in his father's footsteps and enlisted in the Army where he served as a medic for 6 years with three of those years spent in Germany taking care of children.
After his time in the service Claude returned home to Pocatello where he worked at AMI. He met the love of his life Teresa Burt and they soon fell in love and were married. Claude stepped into the roll of father to Teresa's children Tim and Mariah.
They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Charly and Sarah who immediately had their dad wrapped around their tiny little fingers.
The family was lucky enough to see and live in many different parts of the country; Arizona, New York, Colorado, New Mexico,
and Wyoming, but Idaho was always home and they were happy to return to Idaho Falls when Claude obtained employment at the INL. Claude and Teresa were sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Many happy years were spent in Idaho falls before finally moving back to Pocatello in May of this year.
Claude loved a good joke and pulling pranks on family and friends. He had a heart as big as all outdoors and would help anyone at any time. He loved the outdoors, in fact when he and Teresa were married they chose a beautiful spot in the mountains to say their vows. A good day was any day spent camping, hiking or fishing with Teresa and his grandkids, who meant the world to Claude. Claude's time spent as a medic was valuable as he was the "go to" guy when the grandchildren were sick and he always knew just what to do for them. Claude loved a project. From their first home together in Pocatello that they lovingly restored to the home they purchased this past May, they had started remodeling and settling in for what was to be their golden years.
Claude is survived by his wife Teresa, son Tim (Amber) Purcell, Mariah Sanchez, Charly (JJ) Johnson, and Sarah (Stephen) Meads; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Siblings Edward (Sabina) Pettengill, Ray (Debbie) Pettengill, Jasmine (Norman) Mannion and Leslie (Tona) Pettengill.
Claude was preceeded in death by his parents, Edward and Masako Pettengill, siblings Oliver Pettengill and Mariya Whittle.
