Doris F. Mart

Doris Mart, 92, passed away at the home of her daughter on September 5, 2018.

Doris was born in Vallejo, California on November 10, 1925. Her family moved to Oakland, California when she was a teenager.

During WWII, she worked on the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, based in Vallejo and was a singer with the Jimmy Emerson band. She met her late husband, Lester, while she was singing with the band. He was a Marine. After he was discharged from the military, they moved to Nebraska, where Lester was from. They were later divorced and in 1968 Doris moved back to California with her daughter, Linda and her granddaughter, Chris. Doris went to work for Varian where she was an electrical inspector supervisor until she retired.

Doris moved to Pocatello in 1993 to be with family. She was very active and enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting, spending time with her family and singing. She was an active member of the Pocatello Senior Center, where she served on the Board of Directors for a time and a member of the Silver Chords and Silver Notes, where she was able to enjoy her first love of singing.

Doris is survived by her son, Wayne Mart, Lincoln, NE; daughter, Linda (Bob) Crockford, Pocatello, ID; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated and there will no services held at this time.
