Doris Mae (Palmer) Scott, 91, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at her home surrounded by loving family members.
Doris was born on May 18, 1932, in Pocatello, Idaho to Lillian and Joseph Palmer. She grew up on the family farm south of Pocatello at the mouth of Mink Creek. She attended school at a one room schoolhouse in Portneuf and Irving Jr. High and Pocatello High School.
Doris married Rayo Ellis Scott on August 25, 1949, and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 28, 1952. Doris was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings including Young Women’s President, Relief Society President, and the Ward Historian.
Doris was an accomplished seamstress and had sewn for many residents in Pocatello. She had her own childcare business named Cricket Corner, for 41 years. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting, quilting, watching birds at her bird feeders, going on road trips and spending time with family.
Doris suffered with health issues for the past several years and required home health. We as a family would like to thank Symbii Home Health & Hospice for their service, especially nurses Jennifer, Cheryl, Adrianna, and Marsha, for their compassionate tender care of our mother.
Doris is survived by her six children, Rayo Edward (Judy) Scott, Pocatello, ID; Howard Jeffrey (Tamra) Scott, Pocatello, ID; Clifford Dean (Amanda) Scott, Kuna, ID; John Marshall (Yana) Scott, Cedar Hills, UT; Lucinda Louise (Darrell) Lewis, Blackfoot, ID; Margaret Kathleen (Doug) Hutchison, Roseville, CA; 27 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Connie Edholm; and brother-in-law, David Paepke.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rayo Ellis Scott; parents, Joseph and Lillian Palmer; siblings, Carl Palmer; Elizabeth Palmer Willford; Warren Palmer; Darla Palmer Paepke; 1 grandson, Jacob E. Scott; 3 great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Garvin; Emily Garvin; and Paul J. Lewis.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 6-8 pm at Colonial Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11 am at the LDS Church, 655 S. Grant Ave. Pocatello, Idaho, with a viewing one-hour prior.
Graveside services will be at 2 pm at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery, 13 S. 725 W. Blackfoot, Idaho.
