Dorothy R. Malo

May 31, 1922 — June 18, 2012

Dorothy R. Malo, age 90, passed away at her home with daughter Karen and her faithful shihtzu “Keko” at her side. Encompass Hospice gave medical and supportive care during the last days. “Thank You” my dearest ladies and Dr. Nielson.

With only a few days remaining of spring, a brisk breeze to sweep in new beginnings of long summer days, a very special rose has lost its bloom and lies dormant for the last time- but-AH,-such splendor and memories of her elegance and stature!

Mom was indeed unique, having her own self of style-her own way of looking at life while always staying true to herself. Where ever the venue, her arrival made a statement, much like that queen of the garden she loved " the Iris (Haut Les Voiles) or “Raise the Sails.”

If anyone could promise you a rose garden, it was Mom! When the early morning son of spring would commence, mom always perked up with renewed vigor and began her campaign on planning and buying flowers to fill her many baskets and in any space in the yard that may need replenished or sprucing up. Flowers, her passion and joy-rose, Iris, Lily, Orchid, Petunia, Pansy, Geranium, Bleeding Heart, the list is endless for she found beauty and admiration of God's ornamental creations and nourishes them with tenderness. Each new season of flowers were unopened treasures to behold.

Mom's most endearing quality was the unconditional love, support and pride of her grandchildren; Stacey (William) Baker, Kennewick, WA, Marc Hammond, Lynwood, WA, Darren (Tracey) Hammond, Monroe, WA; Kenneth Malo, Grand Forks, North Dakota; seven great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.
A member of the retail clerks Union Local #560 since early 1960's many can recall her ability to please and satisfy the customer she served. Working at the Idaho Department Store and Fargoes until their closing. Then Blocks and lastly LeVines until her retirement.

Dorothy is survived by two children, Kenneth P. Malo (Kim)-Rock Springs, WY and Karen L. Hammond, Chubbuck, Idaho.

Arvo O. Malo, loving husband, both parents, three brothers and two sisters, all preceded her in death.

Wilks Funeral Home conducted the cremation, and as per Dorothy's request no funeral service to be held.

“Mom, may the upward call of God and the voice of many angels take you along your journey home where all your loved ones will rejoice in your coming. I love you-Karen”
