Elaine Nellie Wilson

d. January 6, 2014

Elaine Nellie Wilson Our Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend left us for heaven on January 6, 2014. Elaine was born February 27, 1938 in Blackfoot, Idaho to James and Viola Candland. She was the baby of the family and loved her two older sisters. She spent her elementary years in Blackfoot and moved to Pocatello as a young teen. Elaine was attending Pocatello High School when friends arranged a blind date for her and a handsome young man named Leroy Wilson. Little did they know that evening would begin a 61 year love affair. As Elaine needed to finish school, Leroy joined the Army, returning home in January of 1956. Elaine turned 18, graduated from high school, and the couple married on August the 26th. They were later sealed in LDS Temple in Idaho Falls. Elaine and Leroy started their family in 1957 with their son Mike. Two years later, three babies joined the Wilson family; Tammy in February and twins, Jerry and Larry, in December. They had their hands full with four young children but still had room for one more, son Bill who was born in 1963. Elaine loved her role as Mommy but found time to squeeze in a job outside the home, working at Woolworths, School District 25, Hillcrest Haven, and the kids' favorite donut shop, The Hot Spot. When the family had free time, it was spent hunting and fishing in the outdoors. Elaine was a member of the Happy Hands Quilt Club, and the VFW Women's Auxiliary, holding various leadership roles in both clubs over the years. She loved to sew and give away her hand-crafted quilts. Elaine volunteered for many years with the Volunteer Tax Program, helping hundreds of people file their income taxes. She was a member of the 9th Ward LDS Church. Elaine is survived by husband Leroy, sister Margaret and children Mike Wilson, Tammy (Darren) Jacobs, Jerry (Debbie) Wilson, Larry (Rhonda) Wilson, Bill (DeAnn) Wilson, 11 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joanne and grandson Tyler. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Women's Auxiliary VFW Post 735 in care of Lynn Hebdon, 2130 Sandy Lane, Pocatello, Idaho 83204. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 10, 2014, at 11:00 A.M at the LDS Chubbuck 9th Ward on 4773 Independence with a viewing from 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow services at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
