Evelyn Marie Whitmire

Evelyn Marie Whitmire, 78, of Pocatello, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2019.

Evelyn was born on November 8, 1940 to Bill and Jessie Murray, and was raised on a farm in the Boise area. She lived in the Boise area for 23 years, completing high school there. On May 16, 1959, she married her best friend, Walt Whitmire. They were together for 60 years until the time she passed away.

During their marriage, they spent 12 years in Salt Lake City before settling permanently in Pocatello where they have lived for the past 49 years. Walt and Evelyn owned and operated Walt's Auto Salvage for many years.

Evelyn was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, as well as going fishing and camping. Her favorite hobby was spending time with all of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Walt Whitmire, daughters Lori Utley and Larryce Whitmire, as well as 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Cathy Kestler, Cody Hite, and Dakota Laeger.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 8, 2019, at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Rd, Chubbuck, Idaho.
