POCATELLO-Gloria "Genie" Alexander, 67, passed away Friday, April 28 th , from natural causes. Genie was born September 13 th , 1943 in Abilene, Texas. An avid fisher and bowler, she never failed at having a good time. She fell in love and married Walt Alexander in April of 1971 and also became an amazing mother. Genie was actively involved in her community; she was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, attended Southern Baptists Church, was a member of the sorority Beta Sigma Phi, and is a past president of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does. She worked for Quality Control at Lambweston and as a bookkeeper at Pocatello Ready Mix/Sanding gravel. She also spent time as a bookkeeper for Blocks Department Store. She then worked for the Bannock County Treasurers Office for twenty-one years until becoming the county treasurer in 2002 for four years. Genie loved spending her time with her family and friends and could always bring a smile to everyone's face. Genie is survived by her seven grandchildren: Koren Alexander, Brandon Page, Sean Winsor, Kris Jones, Amy Thorton, Jason Woods, and Jami Woods; her children, Troy Alexander and Susan Woods; and her siblings, Bette Volkman, Dressia Hio, and Bob Newsom. We will all miss you, Genie! Her memorial ceremony will be held at Rocky Mountain Ministries, 845 Hyde Avenue, Pocatello, on Wednesday, May 4 th , at 11 a.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.Colonial-FuneralHome.com.
