Harry N. Lewis

April 30, 1923 — April 3, 2011

POCATELLO " Harry Neil Lewis, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his home surrounded by loving family members.

Harry was born in Malad, the third child of seven children to Hyrum and Sarah (Evans) Lewis. The family moved to Arbon Valley where he attended his early years of school. He went to Moreland High School when the family relocated to the Blackfoot area. When he was 18 he went to California and started working for North American Aviation. He was in charge of many women working on the B-25's for the war efforts. He could have had a military deferral; but when he was asked to serve his country he went in the Army and delivered supplies throughout England and France. He also served as an MP. He was honorably discharged September 18, 1945.

After the war, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Rowe, and they were married July 16, 1948. The first five years of their marriage they farmed around the Blackfoot area, while raising their three sons and daughter. They later moved to Pocatello where Harry began his 31 year career with FMC. They also increased their family with a daughter and twin boys.

Harry enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing. He spent many summers at the cabin in Island Park. His greatest joy was his family and he loved to be surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Harry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Lewis; six children Randy (Alice) Lewis, McCammon; Richard Lewis, McCammon; Peggy (Ralph) Johnson, Pocatello; Wayne (Dannette) Lewis, Pocatello; Jacque (James) Boyce, Chubbuck and Barry Lewis, Island Park; brother, Ralph Lewis, Panama City, Panama; 15 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.

Harry was preceded in death by his son, Larry Lewis; parents, Hyrum and Sarah Lewis; two sisters, Mae and Alice; and three brothers, Earl, Paul, and Hyrum.

The family would like to thank the staff of Access Home Care & Hospice and all who helped not only Harry, but all of them.
