Helen Young

Helen B. Young, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on July 4, 2009 surrounded by her daughters. She was born February 19, 1915 to Abraham Ferrin and Grace (Briggs) Ballantyne in Rigby, Idaho. Helen was educated in Pocatello with the exception of a year of high school in San Francisco and Livermore, California. She returned to graduate from Pocatello High School in 1932. She graduated from the School of Nursing at Pocatello General Hospital in 1936. Helen married Emil Zweigart in August, 1936 and they were married for 32 years. After Emil passed Helen married Arthur E. Young in May, 1972. Helen and Art were married 32 years before his passing in 2004. Helen worked as a registered nurse in Pocatello and San Francisco at different times in her life. She was active for many years as a founding member of the Bannock Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She organized and worked Red Cross Blood drives and worked as a volunteer at a crippled children
