Idonna Mae Girrard (GG) passed away February 25, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Idonna was born in Hubble, Nebraska she was the oldest of 3 children. She graduated from Syracuse High School in 1950 and moved to Shoshone, ID with her family shortly after graduation. On June 1, 1954 she married Marlin Lee Girrard in Pocatello, ID. They resided in McCammon before moving to Pocatello in 1965. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Steven and Donna. Idonna worked as a telegrapher for the railroad from 1952-1954. She went to work for School District 25 in the central kitchen in 1978. She made many lifelong friends and wonderful desserts at central kitchen before retiring in 1994. Idonna and Marlin enjoyed bowling, camping and fishing. They also loved spending time with their grandchildren and later Idonna with her great-grandchildren. Idonna enjoyed gardening and embroidery and won several ribbons at the state fair over the years. Everyone she met in life instantly loved her and she told them to call her 'grandma'. She had the greatest sense of humor. She loved traveling, and with her daughter by her side, was blessed to visit many places the last 13 years of her life including her first plane ride and trip to the beach. She was a very caring and generous person. She will be so missed by everyone that ever knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Brent) Edmonds of Pocatello, Idaho; granddaughters, Jennifer (Jared) Larsen, Amber Harmon (Jake Wells); grandsons, Jeff (Jade) Robinson, Cody (Jensyn) Edmonds; granddaughter, Britney Edmonds; and 7 great-grandchildren. Idonna was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin; son, Steven; parents, Adolph and Mildred Braun; sister, Joyce Elthredge; and her brother, Gordon Braun. The family would like to thank all of the great people who cared for Idonna at Gateway Transition Care Center and Alliance Home Health and Hospice. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 2 pm with a viewing for one hour prior to services also at Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83204.
