Isabelle Bounds

November 24, 1921 — December 1, 2012

Isabelle E. Bounds, 91, left this world to be with the stars. She was at home surrounded by her family and friends when she passed. Isabelle was born in Sardinia, New York in 1921, one of seven girls and three boys to Antonio and Raphela Donato from Italy.

Isabelle was a first generation immigrant that found her way from a farm just outside of New York City to the dream she achieved as a professional singer. A New York Times article called her the “Lady with a blue velvet voice.” After singing professionally for seventeen years she decided leave the music industry and moved to Lake Tahoe, California. It was in Lake Tahoe that she and husband of 31 years, Paul M. Bounds, raised their six children.

She enjoyed traveling and visited many countries including Australia, Indonesia, Bali and many other wonderful places. She of course loved to sing, but also enjoyed painting, reading and cooking.

She was an amazing woman and will be missed by many.

Isabelle is survived by; son, John Donato, Pocatello, Idaho; daughters, Phyllis Arriola and Mary Bounds-Bishop, Pocatello; son, Paul Bounds, Chandler, Arizona; sisters, Ida Donols, California and Ann Tallman, New York; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
