Jack Bernard Holt

Jackie "Jack" Bernard Holt, 84, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Jack was the first son born to Brigham Payton "Jack" and Violet Tillotson Holt on August 25, 1931 in Pocatello Idaho. Four younger brothers joined the family, Alvin LeRoy, Charles Eugene, Gary Gene and Gary Lee. Jack graduated from Pocatello High School. He then attended Grimms Business School in Pocatello. In 1951 he joined the Army and was stationed in Fort Collins, Colorado, and in Fort Benning, Georgia. After his discharge, he went to work for the PFE Railroad, and later started working for American Republic Insurance winning many awards and trips. He then went back to work for the Union Pacific Railroad as a car man, retiring from the railroad in 1988. Along with working at the railroad he also sold insurance for Mutual of Omaha, again winning many rewards. He also had his own small business, JACKO Construction. In 1955 he married and had two children and they later divorced. In 1967 he met Linda Ellis Kinney, a widow with three daughters; they married and added two sons. After retirement and their nest was empty, they moved to Madison, Alabama where they resided for several years. He was ordained a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving with his wife, Linda, as ordinance workers in the Birmingham, Alabama Temple. Due to illness, he and Linda returned to Pocatello to be by their families. He passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at home. He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Jeff Holt, JaNae (Clay) Neves, Kim (Blaine) Thomas, Kelly (Randy) Paries, Jody (Dolan) Taresh, Jason (Laurie) Holt, Layne (Cheryl) Holt; 28 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles Eugene Holt. He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; and grandson, Kory James Paries. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm with a viewing for one hour prior to the services, also at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204, with Military Honors by the Army Active Guard and The Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. In Lieu of Flowers: donations can be made to Colonial Funeral Home in the name of Jack Holt as a help, going toward some of the funeral expenses.
