Jacqueline "Jackie" Housel

April 29, 1951 — July 11, 2020

Jacqueline "Jackie" Housel, 69, passed away at her home on July 11, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. She just celebrated her 69th birthday on April 29th. She was surrounded by her family as she returned to her Heavenly Father.

Jackie was born on April 29, 1951, and adopted by Jack and Violet Howe three weeks later. In her younger years she moved with her parents to Washington and California before returning to Idaho in 1956. In 1963, her mother Violet suffered medical issues, which led Jackie to live with her Aunt Wyoma and Uncle Don Grandjean in Twin Falls, Idaho, along with their three daughters Beckie, Mary and Debbie. Jackie resided in Twin Falls and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1969.

Jackie met George Housel in June of 1971 and they were married shortly thereafter on August 28, 1971. After her marriage, Jackie worked as a cosmetologist for a short period, before accepting a job with Farmers Insurance in Pocatello, Idaho, where she worked until retiring in 2013.

Jackie enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilt making. She also enjoyed cheering on her children in things they were interested in. She loved driving the golf cart for George while he played a round of golf, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Jackie is preceded in death by her husband George Housel. She is survived by her three children: daughter Stephanie Ann Housel of Pocatello; son Blake Robert (Cari) Housel of Spokane, WA; son Ryan Scott (Jessica) Housel of Pocatello; seven grandchildren: Megan, Robert, Decker, Ella, Carter, Mackenzie, and Easton; as well as one great grandchild Allanah.

Jackie's family wishes to thank so many people who helped and assisted with Jackie in her final battle: Heritage Hospice Care, you are true angels on Earth. Also, thank you to Jackie's friends from church, past co-workers, and her neighborhood who were all willing to help mom or stopped by to check in on her.

Our mom inspired and influenced us through her actions. With her words she was humble and caring. In her actions she was bold, powerful and faithful. She truly blessed us by being able to simply call her our mom.

Mom, we know you are enjoying being with dad, talking about the weather, driving the golf cart, hopefully going fast and making dad nervous. We love you and will keep you in our hearts forever.

A graveside service will be held in her honor at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S 5th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
