James Herndon

James Benedict Herndon II was born August 15, 1968 in Cincinnati, Ohio. During his life he lived in Evansville, IN, Paoli, IN, Orem Utah, Bloomington, IN, and Pocatello, ID.

He attended Indiana University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Occupation Health & Safety.

James served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Albuquerque, New Mexico Mission from 1987-1989.

On April 6, 2001, he married Shanna Mathews Herndon in the Louisville, Kentucky temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and that marriage was solemnized on July 26, 2003, in the Nauvoo, IL temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

James loved spending time with family, especially his beautiful granddaughters Brenna, Lily & Eryn. He loved road trips, visiting zoos, aquariums, museums, and creating photo books. James had a love for comics and science fiction, especially Marvel, Batman, and Star Wars. He created a special bond with his children and eventually grandchildren with those things.

James worked for Rogers Group Inc.. He enjoyed his job and loved the people that he worked with.

James was preceded in death by his grandparents Norwood & Teresa (Blasco) Druck; brother Robert Herndon and sister Sheila (Herndon) Crow.

James is survived by his beautiful wife Shanna; parents Barry & Darleen Stewart of Houston, Texas; daughters Shelby Herndon, Evansville, IN; Gwendolyn Herndon, Oregon; Gracie Herndon, Chubbuck, ID; sons James Michael Herndon Evansville, IN; Nickolas Herndon, Boise, ID; stepsons Drew Adona Pocatello, ID; Jakob Adona Qingdao, China; stepdaughter Aubriean (Kevin) Sills, Chubbuck, ID; a brother Brad (Kimberly) Stewart, South Jordan, UT; a sister Joy (Kurt) Kirkham Bethlehem, PA and granddaughters Brenna, Lily and Eryn Sills Chubbuck, ID.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the 9th Ward LDS Chapel, 4010 Hawthorne Road, Chubbuck Idaho 83202. A viewing will be held an hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all who reached out and help James throughout the years of his disability. He was forever grateful for any and of all the assistance he got and would want you to know that it never went unnoticed!
