James W. Read

March 31, 1932 — June 16, 2012

“Gone Fishing”

James (Jim) William Read, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on June 16, 2012.

Jim was born March 31, 1932 to LeGrand Gorringe Read and Fern Bullock. On December 15, 1950 he was sealed to Grace Elva Neeley in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. From that union they had three children. They were later divorced. On December 21, 1988 he married Viola Carico. She passed away January 15, 2001.
In his later years until his passing he shared a life with his dear friend Rhea Hickman. They spent many happy times together singing and dancing. He loved to dance and karaoke.

Anyone that knew Jim knows what a hard worker he was. He always pushed himself to do better and to be the best at whatever he chose to do. He instilled this strong work ethic in each of his three children.(Jay, Sheila and Ed) At age 15 Jim began his journeyman training in plastering. He built this into his lifetime career.

When the work was done you could find Jim standing in a river with his chest waders on and a fishing pole in his hand. He was an extremely talented man that could fix anything. He loved tinkering on something broken and making it functional again. He truly was a jack of all trades.

Jim is survived by his daughter Sheila Marie Stone (Lew) of Roy, Utah, son Ed William Read (Shelley) of Pocatello Idaho, seven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, Sister Joyce Hatch (Jack), along with his dear friend Rhea Hickman. He was preceded in death by his son James (Jay) Lee Read, his wife Viola Read, his parents, two sisters Donna and Marva, three brothers Boyd, Lynn and Dale.
