Janet Colleen Jacobsen

Janet Jacobsen, 87, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021. She was born on February 17, 1934 in Boise, ID to Calvin and Velma McCay.

Janet grew up in Boise, ID and had one brother and one sister. She attended school in Boise through the 8th grade. Her father was in the military, so they moved around a lot.

Janet married Richard Ernest Jacobsen. They purchased their home on Park Ave. in Pocatello, in 1956 and have lived there ever since.

In her younger years, she worked at a bakery. Most of all, she was a home maker and wife but did work some seasonal jobs at Cordon’s Pie and Frazier’s Farm. Janet had been a PTA President and was involved in Scouting. She was also active in Easter Seals and helped with other community fund raisers. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in Primary, Young Womens, Relief Society and in the library. Janet enjoyed roller skating, needle point, painting, bowling, and macrame. She also enjoyed camping and picnics, and mostly family adventures.

Janet is survived by her husband, Richard E. Jacobsen, Pocatello, ID; son, Richard C. (Chris) Jacobsen, Trenton, MO; daughter, Drurene (Randy) Bybee, Pocatello, ID; daughter, M. Christine Baddley, Pocatello, ID; son, Blaine (Tracy) Jacobsen, Pocatello, ID; and daughter, Colleen K. Gonzalez, Pocatello, ID; 21 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Velma V. Bybee, father, Calvin H. McCay, brother, "Benny" Henry Garner, and sister, Dorothy Caldwell Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 2 pm at the LDS church, 1440 Lakeview Drive, Pocatello, ID. A viewing will be held from 12:30 – 2 pm prior at the church.

Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
