Jenni Lake

d. November 21, 2011

Jennifer Michelle Lake, 17, of Pocatello, Idaho passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on November 21, 2011. Jenni was born on December 18, 1993 in Pocatello Idaho to Diana Frederick and Michael Lake. She was the third of Michael and Diana's eight children and also has an older brother, a younger sister, two step brothers and one step-sister. Jenni attended Irving Junior High in Pocatello until spring of 2006, then the family moved to Parma, Idaho and lived there for a couple of years before returning to the Pocatello area. She then attended school in Blackfoot for a year and since the family moved back to Pocatello, had been attending Pocatello High School and was involved with New Horizons. Jenni had many wonderful friends with whom she was very close at Poky High and it was there she met and began dating the love of her life, Nathan Wittman. She dreamed of someday opening a restaurant, photo gallery and tattoo shop with Nathan. On October 20, 2010, Jenni was diagnosed with high grade level 3 brain and spinal cancer (astrocytoma). She began undergoing aggressive treatments of chemotherapy and radiation until it was determined that the radiation was no longer having any effect. She continued with chemotherapy until, despite all odds, she and Nathan found out they were expecting. On November 9, 2011 Chad Michael was born healthy, at 6lbs 3 oz and 19 inches long. Minutes before delivering Chad, Jenni told her nurse, "I'm done. I did what I'm supposed to do, my baby is going to get here safe and I'm done." Jenni is survived by her boyfriend, Nathan Wittman, their son, Chad Michael Lake Wittman, her mother Diana Frederick-Phillips, her father and step-mother, Michael and Bettina Lake, her brothers Andrew Bright, Forrest, Alex, Dallas and Colson Lake, and her sisters, Ashlee, Kaisee, and Sienna Lake and Frankie Woods, her step siblings, Cameron, Sarah and Zeke King, her grandfather, David Colson, her grandmother Laura Spencer, and her niece Cadence Lake, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins on both sides of the family who loved her very much and will miss her beautiful smile. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Tom and Ann Black and Erma Harris, her grandfather, Eugene Frederick, her grandmother, Christine Heer, and her uncles, Steven and Will Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, El Rancho ward chapel on 300 E. Chapel. A viewing will be held from 11:30 until 12:30 prior to the time of the services. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
