Jerry Marchetti, age 59, passed away from a heart attack at his home in Salt Lake City on Friday, May 29, 2009. Jerry was a second child of the four children born to Kenny and Betty Marchetti. He attended Saint Anthony Elementary School, Alameda Junior High and graduated from Highland High School in 1968. In 1973 he graduated from Idaho State University with a BA Degree in Recreation and also completed post graduate studies in Special Education and Recreation Therapy. He married Jan Dowden in 1977 and they were later divorced. In 1979, Jerry was transferred to Salt Lake City, Utah, with the Union Pacific Railroad, where he lived until his death. His son Ryan was born in 1982, and is currently a Sergeant in the US Army and is on his second tour of duty in Iraq. For the last fifteen years, Jerry was employed by the Salt Lake City Airport. By his own admission, as well as witnessed by others who loved him and also verified by his voicemail, Jerry was one of the greatest Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Fans. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenny and Betty Marchetti. He is survived by his son Ryan (Dechelle) Marchetti, grandsons Erik Trevon Marchetti, brothers Ken (Sharon) Marchetti of Boise, Idaho, Jim (Debbie) Marchetti of Pocatello, Idaho a sister Therese (Scott) Wight also of Pocatello, Idaho and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends one half hour before the Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Community Saint Joseph Chapel located at 403 North Hayes in Pocatello on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 12:00 P.M. Their will be a Rosary held for Jerry at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. followed by a Vigil at 8:00 P.M..
