Joann Kay Zundel

Joann Kay Lloyd Zundel, 86, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Joann was born on July 6, 1933 in Pocatello, Idaho to Dean M. Lloyd and Marchey A. Murri Lloyd. She attended school in Salt Lake City, Utah then the family moved to Springfield, Idaho and Joann graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1951. After High School, Joann moved with her Aunt Arlene Lloyd and best friend to Pocatello where she worked for the Telephone Company as a Telephone Operator. A co-worker and good friend, Elaine Zundel introduced Joann to her brother Reed, and on September 25, 1953 Joann Kay Lloyd and Reed D. Zundel were married in the Logan, Utah Temple. A few years later Chyleen Kay was born, 13 months later Debbie Lyn and then several years after that Kenneth Reed came along. The family was not complete until Heidi Jo and Douglas Dee were added and adopted. Joann enjoyed staying home to raise her family. Joann and good friend Shirley Stinger were 4-H leaders in Pocatello for many years. When Reed retired from the UPRR in 1988 they became snowbirds, heading to Quartzsite, AZ for the winters. In 1989 Reed and Joann went on a mission to the Page, Arizona area, working with the Navajo Indian Nation, they went on a second mission to the same area also. Joann served in the LDS Church in many different callings when her health was good. Joann enjoyed many crafts including knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking, sewing and quilting. She loved music and especially enjoyed singing and frequently sang in a trio with her sisters, Renee and Barbara. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling the country and spending time in the outdoors. Joann loved to travel, and she and Reed went on many vacations with family and friends including camping and traveling the country. A few years ago, Joann and Reed made the move to the Nampa/Boise area to be near two of their children, they then moved in with their Son Ken and his wife Cindy. Joann and Reed were married almost 66 years and where devoted to each other. Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Reed in April; her parents; her brother, Craig; granddaughter, Chelsea Tucker Blair; grandson, Deven Zundel, and son-in-law, Frank Harrison. Joann is survived by her children and their spouses, Chyleen Tucker (Richard), Debbie Lareau (Richard), Heidi Harrison, Ken Zundel (Cindy), Douglas Zundel (Sherry). She left 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren with one on the way and many, many friends. The family of Joann Zundel would like to thank Keystone Hospice for the excellent care they gave our mother and the kindness they showed us during this very sad time. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11 am at the LDS church, 5425 S. Bannock Hwy. Pocatello, ID 83204, with a viewing for one hour prior. Burial will follow at the Springfield Sterling Cemetery, Springfield, Idaho.
