John "Gene" Peck

Gene was born into the family of Asa and Vera Peck on August 23, 1928 in Pocatello, Idaho. Gene was one of six children, his siblings being Galen, Sherlene, Beverly, Bill, and Jimmy

Gene attended Pocatello schools throughout his early education, later moving to Bremerton, Washington to attend high school. Gene had many fond memories of Port Orchard High School and would attend his high school reunions whenever he got the chance.

Gene married Ida Mae Howell on September 26, 1952. They were married 42 years before Ida's death in 1994.Gene and Ida had three children, Steven, David and Teresa.

Gene was a longtime drywall contractor in the Pocatello area where he made many friends throughout his years. Gene had a love for life and a great sense of humor. He loved his family and they spent many happy hours together skiing, swimming, golfing, fishing, camping, bowling and flying.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife Ida, his parents Asa and Vera, two sisters Sherlene and Beverly, and his two brothers Galen and Jimmy.

Gene is survived by his brother Bill, his children Steve (Lila), Dave (Pam), Terry (Bill); grandchildren Forrest, Brandon, Darryl, Rachelle, Danielle, Kimi, Lori, Karl, and Stephanie; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews with a special closeness with his nieces Karen and Kathy.

In lieu of flowers, donations to any one of the local animal rescue sights would be greatly appreciated.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Rd., with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
