Johnny Wilford "John" Nelson, 59, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 16, 2014. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho on February, 22, 1955, to Kyle and Dorothy Nelson. He attended grades 1-12 in Pocatello, graduating in 1973 from Pocatello High School. In 1977, he married Laurel Sivley Nelson in Walla Walla, Washington. John was employed at Montgomery Ward for 15 years as a Service Technician, and Sears, for 30 years, as the Technician Manager covering Utah, Idaho, and Montana. John loved the outdoors and fishing, hunting, and camping. He enjoyed teaching his grandson to hunt. He loved baseball and basketball and when he was younger, he played and coached. We have lost a kind compassionate teacher of many skills and life lessons. Fair minded and positive in attitude were hallmarks of Johns persona. He is survived by his wife, Laurel Nelson, Pocatello, ID; daughter, Heather Nelson, Pocatello, ID, son, Jesse Nelson, Baltimore, MD; mother, Dorothy Nelson, Wake Forest, NC; brothers, Mike Nelson, CA, Jeff Nelson, American Falls, ID; sisters, Patricia Nelson CA, Maria Will, Wake Forest, NC; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Kyle Nelson, sister, Marie Ely, and grandparents, Wilford Nelson and Margurite Nelson. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 2 PM at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 208-233-1500. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 6 to 7:30 PM at Colonial Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services on Thursday also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204
