Joyce Brown

November 28, 1943 — March 13, 2017

Lillian Joyce Brown, 73 of Pocatello, Idaho passed away in her home on Monday March 13th 2017. Joyce was born to Pat and Lottie Vance Arnett in Breathitt County Kentucky on November 28, 1943. She spent her childhood in Magoffin County Kentucky, where she worked at her father's family grocery store. In 1960 she graduated from Salyersville High School in Salyersville, Kentucky. After graduation, she worked a while as a caregiver and a fulltime waitress in the Coffee Cup Restaurant in Salyersville. Later, her Uncle Prater Arnett from Orlando asked her to move to Florida and work at his motel/restaurant. She then worked at a local hospital. While in Orlando, Joyce met U.S. Airman George W. Brown, and discovered that they were both from Kentucky. They married on July 16, 1962 after a short courtship. A daughter, Connie Sue was born in 1963 while in Florida.

George and Joyce moved to Pocatello, Idaho from Kentucky in 1964. The following year in 1965, Joyce gave birth to a son, Michael Lynn. In 1973, she started work at Tyhee Elementary School as a teacher's aide while her children attended. George and Joyce would settle on the East bench of Pocatello to raise their two children while she was the homemaker for her family. They would remain in Pocatello, with the exception of a short stay in Missouri for George's work. Joyce loved to travel with George, and made several trips back home to Kentucky. Hobbies included cooking, excursions to the Fort Hall Casino, and caring compassionately for all who were part of her life. She was a very kind hearted person who was loved by all.
