Juanita Hobson

d. June 20, 2014

Juanita June Bennett Hobson passed away June 20, 2014 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. Juanita was born to William Benjamin Bennett and Lucille Ruth Webb on July 7, 1922 in Norfolk, Madison County, Nebraska. There she attended school graduating early from high school so she could move to Chicago, Illinois with her family. Juanita had beautiful penmanship and worked for Kemmerer Insurance as a check writer. While living in Chicago, she met her future husband, John Ralph Hobson, at Logan Square Ward. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she was a non member. Before they were married, Ralph baptized Juanita. Throughout her life, she has served in Primary, Mutual and Relief Society. She enjoyed each calling. They were married September 22, 1944. On September 18, 1946, they were sealed in the Salt Lake City temple. After Ralph finished dental school, Juanita followed Ralph back to Idaho where he set up his first practice in Pocatello at 205 South 4th. Juanita thought she had a mansion in her apartment in the back of the business. She and Ralph were the parents of four children, Linda, Bob, Susan, & Brett. They loved being involved with their children's activities, cooking breakfast for the Cub Scouts at Ross Park, 4th of July camping trips to Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone, cutting Christmas trees in Lava and yearly neighborhood Christmas parties. At times it was a stretch for Juanita to go to Lava (where Ralph grew up) to cut firewood with a two man cross cut saw. But she was always a good sport for the trips to Lava. Juanita was a stay at home mom, but kept the books for the dental practice. She loved her camping buddies, her bridge games and square dancing friends and all the great memories of these activities. She was a great mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, wife, sister and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Clair) Mendenhall of Providence, Utah; son Robert of Eagle River, Alaska; son-in-law Terry Hansen of Salt Lake City, Utah; and son Brett (Jane) of Chubbuck, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, plus 1 great-grand-child to be born in November. She is also survived by three brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Hobson, her daughter, Susan Hansen, her parents, one brother and one sister. The family would like to express their gratitude for the kind and loving care provided by Portneuf Medical Center Critical Care Unit.
