Julie Marie Lewis

July 21, 1981 — February 26, 2017

On February 26, 2017, our sweet little angel Julie Marie Lewis passed away from the effects of BPAN, a neurodegenerative disease that has no cure. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by her family.

Julie was born on July 21, 1981 to Steven L. and Barbara Anderson Lewis. She was welcomed into a loving home with 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

At the age of 2, Julie started her schooling at the Child Development Center. She attended Lincoln Elementary Special Education, Irving Junior High and Hawthorne Junior High. She graduated in 2002 from Pocatello High School. We will ever be grateful for Julie's peers that showed their love and kindness as they helped her get to classes and be a part of the group. After High School, she participated in several developmental programs and the Developmental Options Day Program. In 2011, Julie started at the Center Adult Day Program. She loved Sally and all her friends there and wanted to go even when she was very ill. Julie also participated in Special Olympics. She loved her coaches and enjoyed being part of the team. She loved attending Curves for Women and did so for over 15 years. The ladies there made her feel like one of the group and watched out for her. Julie had a special love for animals, especially her dogs.

Julie loved participating in Sunday family dinners and family reunions. Her favorite thing to do was watch others have fun and laugh. Her nieces and nephews would help her join in family activities when possible.

Julie was a member of the LDS Church and loved going to her meetings and seeing her friends. She attended Special Primary, Special Mutual, and Special Institute classes. She was also a Visiting Teacher and was a Relief Society Chorister. She loved to sing the hymns and even though she could not read, she had many hymns and primary songs memorized.

Julie is survived by her Parents, Siblings: Brett (Ivy); Jay (Elaine); Kelli (Paul) Bowers; Ryan (Kim); Misti (Michael) Bushman; Nichelle (Olav) Sorensen; 36 Nieces and Nephews: Parker, Davin, Keaton, Trevor, Whitney, Adelynn, Rylund and Jamison Lewis; Tyler, Niquelle, Lyndie, McKenna, Jennalee and Kinzley Lewis; Anthony, Allison, Ashton, Kaden and Kameron Bowers; Dallan, Kyle, Katelyn, Taysom and Carson Lewis; Alexis, Kayli, Aubrey, Ethan, Jarett, Trevan and Carina Bushman; Christian, Olivia, Ericha, Collins and Rafe Sorensen. She was preceded in death by Grandparents Glen and Carrol Lewis and Newel and Velma Anderson; Nephew Carter Lewis; Aunts Shauna and Sandie and Uncles Sherwin and Blair.

We want to thank Encompass Hospice for their excellent help as we cared for Julie at home. We are so grateful to her many friends, teachers, coaches, doctors, nurses, religious leaders and anyone who has supported and loved her throughout her life.

Julie's special quality was her award winning smile which she is sure to be sharing in Heaven. Memories and condolences may be shared on this Tribute Wall.
