Clara June McCullough, 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. June was born in Anoka, Nebraska on a farm without running water and rode her horse to school as a child. June moved to Buhl, Idaho with her parents Frank and Mabel Ellis around 1949. June had three siblings; Lloyd, Harold and Dorothy, who were all six years apart with June being the youngest. June graduated from Buhl High School at the age of 17. After graduation June worked for the Twin Falls Courthouse as a stenographer, where she used her skills of shorthand and typing and received awards for her typing speed. In 1953 June met Charles "Dwain" McCullough, a U.S. Army Veteran in Twin Falls, Idaho. June and Dwain married September 6, 1953 and began their life together moving to Pocatello, Idaho; where they purchased a home and started a family. June and Dwain had three children Steven, Glenn, and Janelle. June and Dwain were owners of a local service station in Pocatello where Dwain performed mechanical work and June maintained the administrative part of the business. After the station business was sold, June began a career with the Union Pacific Railroad as an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent in Pocatello. June's career spanned for 30 years with the railroad. The railroad transferred her to Boise, Idaho where they spent their last 10 years before her retirement. June and Dwain thoroughly enjoyed stock car racing with the entire family. In fact, her involvement in racing brought her to working as a lap counter and scorer with at the Pocatello Speedway for many years. June's hobbies were extensive, she enjoyed playing the piano and organ, racing, camping, and bowling, where she participated in many leagues. She enjoyed being a Cub Scout leader, a piano instructor and a Sunday school teacher. Later years in Boise she enjoyed running in marathons as well as bicycle riding. June particularly liked motorcycles, and enjoyed riding with Dwain and the entire family. June was a devoted Lutheran and organist at the Grace Lutheran Church for many years in Pocatello. In 2001 she moved to Henderson, Nevada to live close to her daughter Janelle and her family. June enjoyed volunteering for the St. Rose Hospital for many years. June is survived by her sons, Steven McCullough of Black River, New York, Glenn McCullough of Pocatello, Idaho; her daughter, Janelle Olson and husband Martin of Henderson, Nevada; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. June is preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Dwain" McCullough; her parents, Frank and Mabel Ellis; brothers, Lloyd and Harold Ellis; and sister, Dorothy Olson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11 am at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, with a viewing for one hour prior. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
