June Neilsen

d. September 21, 2014

Nina June (Lish) Neilsen known as June to everyone who loved her - passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the age of 88. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. A Pocatello resident for over sixty years, June was born at Onyx, Idaho on March 7, 1926, the youngest of five children to Hyrum Elmer and Susie Jane (Girrard) Lish. She spent her childhood and early teen years growing up and helping her family on the various farms they had in the McCammon and Downey areas. She attended school in Downey and during her sophomore year she traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado with a family member. It was there she met her sweetheart, Clair Brower Neilsen, while he was serving in the U.S. Army at Camp Hale, Colorado. It was "love at first sight", and after a nine-month courtship they married on July 7, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was sealed in the Logan, Utah temple in 1948, and they were married nearly 70 years before Clairs passing on April 24, 2013. They were lifelong active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she faithfully fulfilled many callings through the years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. June is survived by her three children: Douglas Neilsen, West Valley, Utah; Thayle and Linda (Neilsen) Smith, American Falls, Idaho; and Bert and Jane (Neilsen) Glandon, Boise, Idaho; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She had a great love for her family and children and they were of utmost importance in her life. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Idaho Veterans Center for their special care and love while she was a resident there the past two years. Funeral services for June will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 208-233-1500.
