Kari Lyn Call

d. August 21, 2014

Kari Lyn Call, 55, of Pocatello, Idaho returned to her heavenly home on Thursday August 21, 2014. Kari was born October 31, 1958, to Rodney Smith and Mary Jane Stevenson. As a lifelong resident of Pocatello, Kari attended both elementary and middle school at Hawthorne and graduated from Pocatello High School. It was her time at Poky, participating in choir and being a member of the Gate City singers, that she met her future husband Richard "Rick" Call. On January 16, 1981, they were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple. Two years later they had their first son Richard "Kasey" followed by Jake Ryan. Their daughter, Kelsey Jane, completed the family. Kari was a valiant daughter of God and fulfilled many callings for the LDS church. Her character continued to shine as she stood as a pillar of service to othersshe could never say no to anyone. Kari was especially blessed with the talent of music and participated in music related callings and opportunities. As both a stake and ward choir director, Kari blessed others with her gift of music. She always had a surprise musical guest appearance at her Christmas performances. Her choirs enjoyed the creative arrangements and her passion for music but most notably savored the homemade caramels that she used to bribe them. In addition to directing the choirs, Kari used her musical talent to play for primary, church services and her work with the elderly. She frequently sang at funerals as her tribute to those she loved. Not only was she involved in church service, but also she was involved in serving the community. For many years Kari volunteered her time and talents to the Bannock County Humane Society, where she mowed the grass weekly and cleaned the building. Karis harmonizing voice, great laugh, and infectious smile will be missed by all. Kari is survived by her husband Rick, son Kasey (Sarah) of Ogden, UT; son Jake of Seattle, WA; daughter Kelsey of Chubbuck; mother Jane (Wayne Hawkes) of Chubbuck, ID; sister Julie (Marty Farmer) of Bountiful, UT; brother Ryan (Robyn) Smith of Chubbuck, ID; two precious grandsons Talmage and McKay; mother in law Sharon (Hal) Call; sister in law Keva (Rulon Walker) and five nieces and two nephews. Kari is preceded in death by her father Rodney, father-in-law Hal, and other family members.
