Laurel Elaine Lawson

October 25, 1959 — January 5, 2018

Our dear wife and mother passed from this mortal life Friday January 5, 2018 after a long battle with early onset dementia. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and children in her home that she loved so dearly.

She was born October 25, 1959 in Lake Charles, LA to Oscar and Lelia Beth Redding. She was their second of three children. She spent most of her childhood in Ft. Worth, Texas where she attended school and graduated from Crowley High School in 1978. She took part in cheer leading and band. She loved marching band. She later attended Rick's College in 1980 where she met the love of her life Rick Lawson. They were married later that year, and in 1981, they moved to Pocatello where Rick pursued his college education at Idaho State University. They lived the remainder of their marriage in Pocatello.

Laurel taught aerobics for many years. She had a love for home and office organization, and eventually taught classes as a professional organizer. She always jumped at the chance to organize anyone's home who asked for her help. She loved music, especially instrumental music, playing her saxophone, and later trying to learn to play the piano. However, her main interests were supporting her children in each of their own interests.

Laurel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held various callings: Primary President, Relief Society Presidencies, girl's camp director, and young women's callings. She always wished she had served a full time mission for the church and looked so forward for the day she could serve a couple's mission with her husband. We know she is on the other side waiting anxiously to serve with him there.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Rick Lawson; her children, Jacquelyn Lawson of Pocatello, Kelsey (David) McCracken of American Falls, Brady (Kristen) Lawson of Rexburg, and Jonathan Lawson of Pocatello; her sister Leslye (Rex) Whittemore of Gilmer, TX, and her older brother, Ethan (Julie) Redding of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by her three beautiful grandchildren.

Laurel was preceded in death by her father Oscar Redding, and her mother Lelia Beth Bryant Redding.

She will be loved and missed by all who were blessed to know her. We can't wait for the day we get to be reunited with her again.
