Lloyd Harvey Swore

Lloyd Harvey Swore passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the ripe old age of 98. He was born on November 10, 1921 in Osakis, Minnesota to Cever Nicklaus and Lena Dohman Swore. He spent his early years fishing for his father on many of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes, building cement silos on his uncle's farm and eventually working for the railroad.

Lloyd joined the Army Air Force at the onset of World War II and was stationed at the airbase in Pocatello, serving as a military policeman. In January of 1944, Lloyd was in Fred's Café with some friends when he was introduced to Viola May Bullock. Lloyd and Viola had been dating for six months when in June, he was sent to serve in Greece. It was during this time he received the Purple Heart and the Military Cross Awards. He returned to Pocatello in December of 1945, and Lloyd and Viola were married on January 26, 1946.

They lived their married life in Pocatello, Idaho and became the parents of four children: Jerry Lloyd, Steven Eugene, Timothy Cever, and Jennifer Irene. Lloyd continued working for the railroad until he retired after 42 years of service at the age of 59-½. He then went to full time farming with his boys and continued to farm until his passing.

Lloyd is survived by his son, Jerry (Janiel) Swore; daughter-in-law, Brenda Swore; son, Timothy (Maria) Swore; daughter, Jennifer (Christopher) Hawkins; 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola May Swore, and his son, Steven Eugene Swore.

A viewing will be held at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Greek Orthodox Church, 518 N. 5th Avenue, on Sunday, December 22nd for one hour from 4-5:00 pm. A Trisagion (Memorial) Service will begin at 5:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, December 23rd at the church. His interment will follow those services at Mountain View Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Idaho National Guard and the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
