Lorraine Lau

d. March 21, 2014

Sarah Lorraine Coleman Lau (Case) entered her last Sabbath rest in the arms of Jesus on March 21, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. With a zest for life she survived 5 cancers and other health complications like a gracious lady. She was born in Ottumwa Iowa November 4, 1926 to Arthur Leroy and Rachel Dorothy Coleman. Lorraine was one of twelve children and has two surviving sisters, Beverly and Leevoy. Lorraine married Harry Raymond Lau in 1942. Out of this marriage came five children. Sue (Wally Watkins), Sandy (Darrell French), Ronnie (Jerry), Danny, and Melissa (Tim Gross). From these children came grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great grandchildren that she loved & prayed for until she drew her last breath. Later, after 17 years of courtship, Lorraine married Edward Case. They were married for 10 years she then was widowed in 2001. They spent their years together traveling and spoiling grandchildren. To all who knew her, Lorraine was a hardworking, determined woman. Some would even affectionately call her stubborn. That probably had something to do with her long beautiful red hair. Her competitive nature made her a worthy opponent in all games she played. Dominoes & Pinochle being two of her favorites. Following an 8th grade education Lorraine completed her GED & Bachelor's Degree in Education. Before retiring she taught 6th grade for 12 years for School District 25 in Pocatello ID. Retirement did not stop her zeal for teaching. She returned to work teaching special needs children how to read. As a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church Lorraine was a woman of faith and a true prayer warrior. Everywhere she went she shared her faith and those she encountered were always met with a "God Bless You". In her final days Sabbaths were filled with Southern Gospel music videos. She would sing the old familiar hymns with clarity even when her memory was failing her. Even though we have to say goodbye to our Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, & Friend we have a hope that it is only for a season. "For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Arc Angel & with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first." 1 Thess 4:16 There will be a graveside service for Lorraine, on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2 PM at The Norton Cemetery in McCammon, Idaho. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.colonial-funeralhome.com
