Mark Dwayne Morey

February 4, 1945 — January 21, 2023

Mark D. "Pete" Morey, age 77, passed away at his home in Inkom, Idaho on January 21, 2023. Pete was born February 4, 1945, in Kewanne, Illinois to Mark O. and Mamie L. Morey and as the Youngest of 6 children. Around 1947, the family moved to Idaho where Pete grew up and graduated from Marsh Valley High School. He then attended ISU, followed by 4 years in the U.S. Airforce, after which he was employed by JR Simplot for 38 years before retiring.

In 1971, Pete married the love of his life, Joan Lapp. Together they raised 2 daughters, Christie and Jennifer.

Pete is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Joan Morey; daughters, Christie (Darwin) Somsen, Jennifer (Jeff) Castro; one granddaughter and one grandson. He is also survived by his siblings, Ken (joy) Morey, Dorothy Dodson, Betty Hook, Ruth Weiss, and Helen Freshe along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Mark and Mamie Morey.

Pete loved to be outdoors, riding 4 wheelers, hunting, and working in and around his shop. He was a very smart man, and if he did not know how to do something, he would learn. He enjoyed making and building things. Often, he would do his own remodeling and home improvement projects, along with fixing and maintaining his cars and equipment. He also enjoyed doing craft projects such as making deer horn pipes and walking sticks.

Pete was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

There will be a celebration of life sometime in the late spring or early summer.
