Martha Jo Bollinger

d. October 31, 2010

Martha Jo Bollinger died October 31, 2010 at Portneuf Care Center in Pocatello of age related causes. She was born March 12, 1927 at Sullivan, Indiana to Logan and Beatrice Umsted Sluder. She had one older sister (Jean) Imogene Sluder Bollinger. Martha and her family moved to Wyoming when she was a young girl. She attended school in Rock Springs, WY. She married Robert H. "Bob" Bollinger on January 22, 1946. She is survived by her three children, Don Michael (Margie) Bollinger of Star, ID, Nina Jo (Steve) Adams of Pocatello, and Robert Patrick (Taree) Bollinger of Sammamish, WA. The Bollinger family moved to Pocatello in March of 1953. Martha worked at a veterinary clinic for Dr. David Hill and then Dr. Robert Hutchinson for several years before starting her own dog grooming business. Upon retirement, Bob and Martha built two homes: one in Star Valley, WY and one in Bullhead, AZ. Besides her three children, Martha is also survived by six grandchildren: Lisa Jo (Randy) VanTrease and Torrey (Melissa) Bollinger of the Boise area; Tiffanni Jo (Jeff) Powers and Levi Adams of Pocatello, Cassandra Jo (Casey) Mulivrana, and Robert Jacob (Sarah) Bollinger of the Seattle, WA area, and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews including Nash Carr of Pocatello, who lived with Bob and Martha for a short time, before marrying Kristine. She was preceded in death by her husband/the love of her life, Robert, and her sister, Jean. Martha enjoyed playing pinochle and duplicate bridge, playing golf and tennis with her husband, decorating her home, flower gardening, knitting afghans, being a great cook, and having family gatherings. Not only was she a great and generous mother to her own children, her door was always open to any of their friends and family. Martha and Robert were also foster parents for a year for a Costa Rican boy attending Pocatello High School. At her request, she will be cremated and no services will be held.
