POCATELLO - Martin Dan "Michael" Castillo, 72, of Pocatello, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Pocatello Care and Rehab. Martin was born on January 6, 1940, in Crownpoint, NM. He lived most of his early childhood years in Crownpoint and finished schooling in Brigham City, UT. He graduated from Intermountain Indian School in 1957 and then entered basic training for the military, after which he then farmed in Burley, Idaho. Martin has been married to Betty Lou Tracy Castillo since 1963. They lived and raised their family in American Falls for over 30 years. He met her while in Idaho Falls. He worked at Yamahagha Potato Family as a farm worker. He then worked at the Lamb Weston Plant from 1971 to 2005 as a maintenance man, line mechanic and knife sharpener. He was a member of the Teamsters Union while employed at Lamb Weston. Martin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was baptized by Boyd K. Packer on May 4, 1951. Martin liked to work with his hands building, fixing, and helping people. He rebuilt numerous engines for his most favorite cars, Impalas and 57 Chevy's. He loved music and played the harmonica, guitar, accordion, and sang acoustic. He loved to bowl and also to hunt, travel, and go to movies. He loved to take the family out on Fridays for a good meal at good restaurants. Martin is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Tracy Castillo of Pocatello; oldest daughter, Teresa Sue Sobiezczyk of Phoenix, AZ; oldest son, Michael Dan Castillo of Pocatello; youngest son, Marvin Dan Castillo of American Falls; youngest daughter, Vicky Lou Castillo-Sandoval of Yuba City, CA; step-sister, Rosie Castillo of New Mexico; 7 grandchildren and 1.5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Fannie Mariano Castillo; brothers, Benny, Denny, Raymond, and Howard Castillo; sister, Mary Castillo. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012, at the American Falls 2nd Ward Chapel, 111 Church Place, in American Falls. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow services at the Falls View Cemetery in American Falls.
