Maurine Swallow Broadhead

Our sweet mom and Nana, Maurine Swallow Broadhead, passed away June 4th, 2021 in Pocatello, Idaho. She was surrounded by loved ones as she left us to return to her family and Heavenly Father.

Maurine was born on September 20, 1952 to Alfred and Twyla Swallow. She resided in Pocatello, Idaho for all of her 68 years. She was lucky enough to spend the last 25 years of her life living with her best friend and sister Gloria. They were inseparable and loved being each others Besties. They traveled all over and looked forward to every trip.

Maurine loved the simple things in life such as hugs from her grandkids, handwritten notes, snickers, being with friends and always had a diet coke within reach. She loved traveling, visiting with friends over lunch at Buddy’s, and watching sports and old westerns. She loved playing the piano and a good game of Canasta. Her and Gloria took a daily ride to see new temple on Pocatello. She couldn’t wait for it to open.

For 42 years, Maurine worked at the Pocatello School District where she met many dear friends. Maurine always had a special connection with children. Her favorite job of all time was working with the special needs children at Green Acres.

Maurine was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a strong testimony that she loved to share through her service and dedication to the gospel. One of her favorite callings was teaching in the Nursery with her sister and having a bag of treats for her Sunday school class. She instilled the love of the gospel with her family and was a great example of Christ like love.

Maurine loved to love people. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her four kids and 12 grandkids. She never missed an invitation to dance recital, soccer or baseball game, or anything her grandchildren were involved in. She loved to fill the walls of her home with pictures of her family.

Maurine was preceded in death by her mother and father, her oldest brother Marv Swallow, and her grandson, Kayz Reitz. She is survived by: Brett Broadhead, Kendra and Eric Beachell, TJ and Holi Broadhead, and Kayla and Adam Reitz and 12 grandkids, Hadley, Addison, Ella, Tyler, Molli, Daxton, Blakely, Kellen, Jaxon, and Emmett.
Nana, we love and miss you more than you know. We can’t wait until we can be together again and have a Diet Coke and a snickers again!

A viewing will be held on June 8th from 6-8 PM at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 9th, 2021, at the Chubbuck Stake Center, 450 James Ave, Chubbuck, ID. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery.
