Merrill Jarvis Christensen, resident of Spring Hill, TN, passed away June 2, 2010 at his home due to complications arising from cancer. He was born November 8, 1933 in Pocatello, ID to Wallace Jarvis Christensen and Ireta Poulsen. As a boy he enjoyed hunting, fishing, basketball and baseball. He married Peggy Louise Johnson on Sept 16th, 1954, started a family and began a long career working for the Department of Defense as a civilian computer specialist finally retiring in 1988. The family traveled extensively due to his career and he enjoyed vacations shared with his family. He was active in his church for most of his life, holding many positions of responsibility and sharing in service with his wife. He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 55 years. a son: Kerry (Patrice) Christensen, Concord, CA. daughters: Kathy (Tim) Dickson, of Auburn, WA, Karen (Ron) Gholson of Richmond, VA, Kelly (Martin) Krenn of Klagenfurt, Austria, Karma (Steve) Tomlinson of Salt Lake City, UT, Kimberly Christensen of Leesburg, VA, 20 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Services will be held 11am, Saturday June 5, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Columbia Chapel, located at 1608 Hampshire Pike, Columbia, TN. A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM Friday June 4, 2010 at SPRING HILL MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5239 Main Street, Spring Hill, TN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM (Mountain Time) Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello, ID under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
