CHUBBUCK - Murlin D. Grayson, 76, of Chubbuck, Idaho, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 4, 2010. He was born to Marjorie Jane Wilcox Grayson and William Thomas Grayson on April 19, 1934 in Pocatello Idaho. On February 26, 1952 he enlisted in the US Navy. Following boot camp, Murlin returned to Pocatello and married Sharon Kaye Hofhine on May 26, 1952. Murlin was honorably discharged April 7, 1955 in San Diego, California. Together Murlin and Kaye had 3 children, Annette, Brett, and Bart. Upon returning to Pocatello Murlin served an apprenticeship with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local # 648. He worked as a pipe welder for 16 years. He then went to work for Morrison Knudson as a welding manager and retired after 28 years of service as Quality Director. While working at Morrison Knudson Murlin earned an associates degree from Boise State University and then went on to earn a bachelor degree from City University in Bellevue, Washington. Some of Murlin's hobbies include fishing, hunting, camping with his family, and walking with his "mall buddies". Murlin was an accomplished artist, producing beautiful colored pencil drawings of wildlife, lighthouses, and cartoon characters. For the last nine years, Murlin and Kaye spent their winters in Parker, Arizona. There his morning walk included moving the newspapers from the road onto the porches of the people residing in park. He also enjoyed his daily "nickel ante" poker game. Murlin cherished the many friends he met as a snowbird. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon Kaye Grayson, Chubbuck, Idaho, his children, Annette (Ted) Rosa, Brett (Susan) Grayson, Pocatello, Idaho, and Bart (Jackie) Grayson, Middleton, Idaho, sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, brother Edwin Grayson, Shelly Idaho, and sisters LaWanda Liddil, Pocatello Idaho, and Betty Jean McDermott, Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Lenore Grayson, sister Carol Totten, brother Larry Nelson, and sister Virginia Poppleton. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., at Calvary Chapel Pocatello, 1633 Olympus Drive. Preceding the celebration, a viewing will be held beginning at 10:00A.M. Military honors will be provided by the combined Pocatello Honor Guard at Mountain View Cemetery.
