Nelda Tubbs

d. August 7, 2008

Just shy of her 80th birthday, Nelda LaRae Hess Tubbs passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Portneuf Medical Center following a sudden illness. She was born at home in St. John, Idaho, on August 8, 1928, to John Lawrence and Ida Isabelle Hess. She attended school in Malad, Idaho, and graduated from Malad High School. Nelda married Joel DaMaughn Tubbs on June 28, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on August 3, 1955. They were blessed with four children, Janis Malm (Roger), Boise, Idaho, Rosalie Mainord (Charlie), Santaquin, Utah, J.D. Tubbs (Josette), Beaverton, Oregon, and Robbie Spicer (John), Pocatello. Nelda and her husband owned and operated Maple Leaf Dairy for sixteen years. She ran the office and even delivered the milk when necessary. She also worked as a telephone operator, layaway manager for J.C. Penny, office worker for Rep. George Hansen and Sen. McClure, and finally retired from the Forest Service. Nelda and her husband enjoyed square dancing, motorcycle riding and camping with a wide circle of friends. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in athletic events, piano and dance recitals, birthdays or other family activities. Nelda
