POCATELLO - Norma Rae Atkinson, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012. She was born on March 24, 1926, in Orem, UT, to Frank and Katie Sullivan. Her parents died when she was young and so she was raised by her aunt and uncle Rosala Winn along with their 9 boys in Battle Creek, ID. After she finished high school in 1945 she moved to Pocatello. Norma met Willard Atkinson and they married on February 15, 1946. They had two children: Willard Mac Atkinson and Maureen Kay Atkinson. Norma was always helping people. She worked in rest homes and always volunteered for the church, Deseret Industries, and any other assignments she could do to help whoever was in need. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Norma was devoted to family history and those of her past. Norma is survived by her daughter Kay and James Withem, daughter-in-law Julie Atkinson, 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willard Atkinson, son Mac Atkinson, and grandson Reese Atkinson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. On Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, also at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow services at Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot. The family would like to thank the staff at Monte Vista Health Care Center (formerly Hillcrest Haven) for the kind and thoughtful care that was given to Norma for the past 4 years.
