P LEASE NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE TO COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME Gerald L. "Pete" Olson, 84, passed away on December 23, 2018, in Seattle, Washington, due to complications of Parkinsons disease. Pete was born in Downey, Idaho, on February 20, 1934, to Carl and Tula Olson. He was the youngest of four children. He attended Downey High School and Idaho State University. In 1957, he began work as a lineman for Idaho Power Company. In the 38 years he was employed, he held various positions in Twin Falls, American Falls, Blackfoot, and in Pocatello, where he retired as the Eastern Division Manager. Pete was active in the local community, serving in the Pocatello Rotary Club, Pocatello Chamber of Commerce, Pocatello Chiefs, as well as on various advisory boards and committees. He was also a member of the Pocatello Elks Club. Pete loved spending time with his family, being outdoors, and at his cabin in Island Park, Idaho. Pete is survived by his daughter, Nichole Rose (Seattle, WA); his son, Michael Olson (Sandy, UT); his sister, Laurene Christensen (Pocatello); his brother, Elwyn Olson (Lehi, UT); and two granddaughters, Syringa Rose (Seattle, WA) and Kasi Olson (Sandy, UT). He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Grace Leone Olson; his son, Brad Olson; his brother, Arlin Olson; and his parents, Carl and Tula Olson. Services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 11:00 am, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave, Pocatello, ID, with a viewing for one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Downey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northwest Parkinsons Foundation, 7525 SE 24 th St., Ste. 300, Mercer Island, WA, 98040, or nwpf.org.
