Rex L. Frandsen

Rex Loraine Frandsen, 87, of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 19, 2013, at his home following an illness.
Rex was born September 3, 1926, the third son of R. Beecie and C. Burke Frandsen. Rex completed eight years of schooling and in May 2004 received an Honoree High School Graduate from Marsh Valley, Idaho.
He served in World War II from December 1944 to October 1946 in the Army-Air Force of the United States of America as a Private First Class in the 12th Airborne Squadron of the 13th Air Force P51 Fighter Base stationed in Palawan, Philippines. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
On May 24, 1948 Rex married Erma G. Andersen in Rose, Idaho. They had eleven children. Six daughters: Sandra (Robin) Kihm, Christine (Cal) Hulse, Adele Goodsell, Cynthia (Tom) Long, Noreen (Pete) Enbysk, and Susan (Ron) Hansen; and five sons: Terrence (Michele) Frandsen, Marcus (Carol) Frandsen, Daniel Frandsen, Martin (Carey) Frandsen, and Blaine (Leslie) Frandsen. Erma and Rex divorced - January 1967.
On October 22, 1976 Rex married Deborah F. Sturm in Las Vegas, Nevada. Step-children: Alma Darger, David (Sherrie Tamra) Darger, Stephen (Linda) Darger, Marvin (Annika) Darger, Michael (Mary) Darger, Lisa (Larry) Jordt, Deborah (Kim) Dopp-deceased. His wife Deborah (deceased ) July 2002.
Rex was the first Secretary of Southeastern Idaho Potato Bargaining Association, was a farmer, a water-well driller, a miner, and a shipping manager.
Rex lived a life of peace, harmony and love. Rex is survived by 6 brothers, 2 sisters, 11 children, 6 Step-children, 72 Grandchildren, 68 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
A celebration of life will take place on at 11 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2013, at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho 83202. Military Rites will be provided by the Pocatello Veteran's Honor Guard. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.wilksfuneralhome.com
