Richard Alec Scott

April 9, 1945 — November 17, 2020

Richard (Rick) Alec Scott April 9, 1945- November 17, 2020 Rick peacefully returned home to the lord on November 17, 2020. A celebration of life will be held in his honor at a later date. He was born in Auburn, CA to Marianne Washburn and William A. Scott. Rick was raised in a blended family by his father William (Sheriff Bill Scott) A. Scott and his stepmother Jeannie K. Schaller-Scott. That blending included Penny, Mark, and Christine Schaller, along with Sharon, Rick, Kimberly, and Bill JR (Billy)Scott. Rick graduated from Placer High School. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force. During Vietnam, Rick served in the Air Force, on the island of Guam, as a Pharmacy Specialist. He was awarded several commendations including Good Conduct, Small Arms, and National Defense Medals. He also learned Judo on the beach there. After serving his country, he married Susan Sperry and had a daughter they named Lara. They were later divorced then he met Georgette Handres and had another daughter, Kristi Annette. On February 26, 1972, he married the love of his life Connie Jane Hunter. Rick and Connies marriage produced Eric, John, Heather, and Joshua. His love for family was evident and displayed often. He cherished his family in its entirety. Shortly before he went to be with the Lord, he told Connie how blessed he was to have her and the rest of his familys love. Rick continued his quest for education obtaining a Masters degree in Business with a dual concentration in Finance and Management. He held various positions in several large companies including NASA at Martin Marrieta, Bechtel Oil and Gas, Idaho State University, and likely his favorite, the Senior Center of Pocatello, Idaho. (This was largely due to the people there and perhaps the presence of several billiards tables.) Rick was a member of The Church of Latter Day Saints. His favorite calling was playing the piano for primary children as well as the nursing homes. Rick was a very talented man. He had an incredible ear for music and gifted with a natural ability to play music. He was a member of several bands, all whom he loved dearly. Rick utilized his piano and keyboards to alleviate stress and create enjoyment. He was also a gifted billiards player. It was extremely rare he lost, unless he wanted to. Whether it be 8-ball, 9-ball, or Snooker, Rick could make incredible shots with ease. He would always smile and say, "darn that was a lucky shot". He also had a penchant for linguistics. He knew Spanish, Latin, and was a walking thesaurus for the English language. He had a sharp intellect, and a quick wit. He was a recognized and awarded member of Toastmasters. Rick made friends easily, had a great sense of humor, and could be seen laughing often. As a standing Scott family tradition, he was well versed around a BBQ. He was a master of several family sauce recipes for ribs, chicken, and one of his favorites, Thanksgiving BBQ turkey. Throughout his life, Rick collected coins. If he gave you a coin, you knew he loved and thought highly of you. Rick was preceded in death, and welcomed in heaven, by his mother Marianne; his stepmother Jeannie; his father William (Bill) A. Scott; his younger sister Christine; brother in law Bill; his uncle Jack; and his two best friends, Mike Moshier and Jerry Lee. Rick is survived by his loving wife Connie; daughters Lara (Todd) Freitas, Kristi (Lou)Tassone, and Heather (Scotty) McKinley; his sons Eric, John (Linda), and Joshua (Cara); his sisters Sharon and Kimberly; his brothers Mark and Billy; his grandchildren Tony, Savannah (who is expecting Ricks great granddaughter Nora), Averi, Porter, Andrew, Sophia, Jamon, Otto and Abel. ~Its not goodbye, its till we meet again. Until then we will miss, honor, love, and cherish you every day.
