Ron Hensley 67, passed away at home on Thursday August 7, 2008 surrounded by family. Ron was born December 10, 1940 to Buck and Irma (Smith) Hensley. He was the second child in a family of sixteen. Ron was born and raised in Pocatello. He earned his GED and a mechanical degree while he served in the Army Reserves. Ron married Betty Herrman on September 10, 1963 in Pocatello Idaho. In there 45 years of marriage they have raised four children and lived a happy and loving life of working construction side by side in many states. Ron started his career in construction at the age of sixteen as a operating engineer of heavy equipment. Though out his forty years as a heavy equipment operator he has worked for Empire Construction, Burgraff Construction, and Frazier Construction. He then retired with the reputation as being one of the best and safest operators around. He was highly respected by all of his co-workers. He could pick up a dime off the ground or put eggs back in the carton with out breaking them with a backhoe. Ron enjoyed various outdoor activities with family such as camping, hunting, fishing, snow machining, and later on ATV riding. He also enjoyed leather tooling, engine work, and building things out of wood. He was an excellent cook as well as an avid gardener. Most of all he built a life long love and family togetherness in which is still felt today and forever. Ron was survived by his wife of 45 years Betty Hensley, three daughters Joyce (Lolo) Luis, of Pocatello; Janet (John) Glaittli, of SLC, UT; Shirley (Ken) Hitesman, of Pocatello; one son Mike (Shauntel) Hensley, of Pocatello; fourteen grandchildren, five great grand children and three more on the way, and fourteen brothers and sisters. His parents, one brother Tom, and one sister Robin preceded him in death. A Celebration of life will be held Tuesday August 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S 4th Avenue. Friends and family are welcome to come and celebrate the life of Ron Hensley.
