Rosemary Ames

d. March 9, 2016

After a protracted and tenacious battle with complications incident to COPD and congestive heart failure, Rosemary Ames, beloved wife and treasured mother, quietly returned to her family and Heavenly Father. Born in Pocatello, Rosemary ventured out into the world as a very young Air Force bride. She nurtured and made a home for her family in Texas, Washington, Arizona, England, California and Idaho. She retired from Farmers Insurance, loving her job as she traveled through the office gathering mail. She enjoyed visiting new places and meeting new people, spoiling her children and grandchildren, hand crafts, finding a good bargain, playing cards (especially cribbage), crossword puzzles, country western music, and dancing. She also was not far away from Corky and a pool table, enjoying a cold beer with him. Generous, funny, and feisty, she will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, Corwin (Corky) Ames; her four daughters, Marie Ames, Lisa Rivera-Ames, Corrine Dyer (Tim), and Mary Cole (Joe); 10 grandchildren,11 great-grandchildren, with twin boys due in June; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray M. Curtis and Evelyn Shockey Curtis; and her brother, Nathan Curtis. The family wishes to thank Mary Cole for her devoted and tireless efforts as her mother's guardian/conservator. We also wish to the Cassandra Hunter and Chris Cole, her grandchildren who were at her side at the time of her passing; reading to her and playing her favorite music. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11 am with a viewing for one hour prior to the services also at Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83204. After the graveside service on Saturday, the family will receive friends and family at Brookdale Assisted Living, 1501 Baldy Ave. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.colonial-funeralhome.com
