Rulon S. Gull

Rulon S. Gull, 90, was relieved from an extended illness, Saturday, March 10, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Rulon was born November 23, 1927 in Magrath, Alberta, Canada to Bernard and Olga (Coleman) Gull. The family moved to Woods Cross, Utah where he finished his schooling. He married Doris Joy Kilpack on September 7, 1951 in Centerville, Utah.

Rulon started his working life delivering the Deseret News. He then worked for Wycoff Co. as a delivery and truck driver. He then moved to Pocatello in 1966 where he managed that branch of Wycoff Co. and worked diligently for them for 37 years when the company dissolved its interests. During that time he operated the family farm on the corner of Quinn and Philbin Roads where he put up hay and raised oats for his horses. He then was able to obtain a Highway Contract Route for the USPS and delivered freight for his own company, Gull's Delivery. This was a family business and it involved Doris and their kids. Rulon finally retired at the age of 80!

In his early years he enjoyed taking his family to Yellowstone. Later on his enjoyment grew into raising horses and cutter racing. He and Doris loved their trips to Jackpot. They also enjoyed playing on bowling leagues.

Our family wishes to express our gratitude to Heritage Hospice, namely Marian, Kelly, Brandi and Michael for their attentive care of our husband and father. As well as to extend a special thanks to Angie Gull and Saydee Collins for going above and beyond with making him comfortable.

Rulon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris Gull, Chubbuck; their children, Karen Marshall, Chubbuck; Debbie Gull, Pocatello; Cathie Symonette, Pocatello; Brent Gull, Chubbuck; Bruce Gull, Pocatello; Roger (Diana) Gull, Pocatello; 9 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Gull; parents, Bernard and Olga Gull; sister, Tess Grenagher; and parents-in-law, Sylvester and Lydia Kilpack.

Funeral services for Rulon will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road. A viewing will be held from 6-8:00 PM, Wednesday evening and starting at 12:00 Noon on Thursday prior to the services at the funeral home. His interment will follow the services at Mountain View Cemetery.
